Lee makes his presence felt in Toyama—31-point win over Mikawa

Lee Dae-sung’s one-man show in the third quarter helped Mikawa to a 31-point victory.

Seahorses Mikawa won 90-59 against Toyama Grouse in the B.League 2023-2024 season at Toyama Municipal Gymnasium in Toyama, Japan on Friday.

Jake Layman (15 points, 10 rebounds) recorded a double-double, while Davante Gardner (15 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists) and Zach August (12 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists) also made their presence felt. With the win, Mikawa improved to 4-3 and moved into sole possession of fourth place in the Central District.

Lee finished with 14 points and five rebounds in 19:51 of action. He shot 5 of 9 from the field, including 4 of 7 from three-point range. He hasn’t been shooting well lately, but tonight he showed he can score.

After focusing on defense and rebounding in the first half, Lee began to showcase his scoring instincts in the second half. He hit three three-pointers in a row to attack Toyama’s perimeter defense. He followed that up with a mid-range jumper and then another outside shot. In the third quarter alone, he was a one-man show, scoring 14 points, including four three-pointers. The game tilted in Mikawa’s favor early on, and Lee Dae-sung rested on the bench in the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, Yang Jae-min (Sendai) returned from a knee injury to record six points and two rebounds in just 9:44 minutes against the Gunma Crane Thunder. The Sendai 89ERS recorded their second win of the season with an 87-75 victory.

Jang Kook-Kook (Nagasaki) scored three points, grabbed three rebounds and dished out one assist in 17:31 of action for the Shimane Susanu Magic. He attempted two 3-pointers and made one. The Nagasaki Belka won 77-73 and remained in third place in the Western District (6-1).
