A ceremony was held for the Korean athletes participating in the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Para Games.
On the morning of the 13th, the Korea Sports Association for the Disabled held the Korean athlete selection ceremony for the Hangzhou Asian Para Games at the Samsung Pavilion of the Icheon Athletes’ Village in Gyeonggi Province.
About 450 people, including players and officials, attended the ceremony to solidify their resolve ahead of the competition.
The event started with a national ritual, chanting of patriots, and a moment of silence, and continued with the screening of a video showing the players overcoming the arduous training to demonstrate their best skills, and the audience generously gave warm applause to encourage their hard work. 토토
Jeong Jin-wan, president of the Korea Sports Council for the Disabled, encouraged the participants, saying, “I hope that they will demonstrate their skills to the fullest so that their efforts in training will bear fruit despite the difficult conditions in which the competition was postponed due to the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19).”
President Yoon Seok-yeol said in a video letter, “I am proud of the athletes who have worked hard for the competition.
I will support the athletes’ success together with the entire nation.”
He continued, “The government will ensure that everyone in our society can enjoy sports rights fairly,” and added, “We will more thoroughly guarantee the sports rights of people with disabilities and strengthen support.”
On behalf of the athletes, team leader Kim Jin-hyuk expressed his determination to participate in the competition.
General Manager Kim said, “I will do my best in every game as I have put in a lot of sweat and tears to stand on the dream stage of the Hangzhou Asian Para Games.
In addition to achieving good results, I will do my best to take care of the safety and health of the players.” He promised.
Next, each sport in which Korean athletes participate, including goalball, sitting volleyball, weightlifting, table tennis, and archery, and the participating athletes were introduced one by one on the screen, and the athletes in each sport that were called responded by standing up from their seats or clapping their hands.
When Director Kim Jin-hyuk took over the short term from Chairman Jeong Jin-wan and waved it vigorously from side to side, thunderous applause poured in.
Following a video of support from the non-disabled athletes, the families of the disabled athletes, and Icheon Athletes’ Village officials, guest singer Kim Jang-hoon brightened the mood with a special performance, and the athletes, who seemed nervous, smiled broadly and enjoyed the exciting atmosphere together.
The Hangzhou Para Asian Games will be held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China from the 22nd to the 28th of this month.
Korea will dispatch a team of 345 athletes (208 athletes, 137 officials) to 21 sports and jump into the competition with the goal of taking 4th place in the overall rankings.
The team will hold a launch ceremony at Incheon International Airport Terminal 1 at 9:30 a.m. on the 16th and then head to the battle site at 12:25 p.m.
