The Doosan Bears swept a midweek three-game series against the Kiwoom Heroes to extend their winning streak to three games.
Doosan came from behind to win 8-6 against visiting Kiwoom in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on Thursday.
Despite starter Kim Dong-joo being pulled after giving up four runs in 1⅔ innings, Doosan got the win thanks to its bullpen and bats.
In particular, foreign-born hitter Jose Rojas went 4-for-5 with three doubles, one walk, five RBIs and three runs scored, including a leadoff double in the first inning, a two-run homer in the fifth and a wedge triple in the seventh.
It was one shy of a cycling hit (a single and a home run in the same game).
Yang, who returned to the starting lineup as a designated hitter after a 19-day absence, went 2-for-4.
Kiwoom piled up 12 hits and eight walks, more than Doosan (nine hits and six walks), but was left stranded for the third straight game.
Doosan scored three runs in the top of the fifth inning to tie the game at 4-4.
After Doosan put runners on first and second with no outs on a single by Cho and a walk by Heo Kyung-min, Kiwoom pulled starter Ian McKinney and brought up Ha Young-min.
But Kim Jae-ho advanced the runners with a sacrifice bunt and Rojas followed with a double to center field.
Rojas came home on Yang’s single to right and Yang’s slow grounder to center.
With the bases loaded in the seventh inning, Rojas hit a wedge triple to deep right-center field.
Kiwoom was stung by a throwing error by third baseman Kim Tae-jin in the previous at-bat that allowed the lead runner to score.
After falling behind by a run in the eighth, Kiwoom scored only one run in the ninth on Kim Tae-jin’s single with runners on first and third.
Both teams exchanged two runs in the first inning.
Doosan took the lead with a two-run homer by Rojas. It was Rojas’ 14th home run of the season.
Kiwoom tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the first when Lee Ju-hyung hit a two-run double to center field after two walks and a hit batter.
Doosan briefly took the lead as starter Kim Dong-ju was shaky.
In the bottom of the second, Kim gave up a single to Joo Sung-won and back-to-back walks to Song Sung-moon and Kim Hye-sung to load the bases.
After Ki scored a run on Ronnie Dawson’s sacrifice fly, Doosan brought in reliever Choi Won-jun, but he gave up a two-out single to Kim Hwijip.
Doosan quickly tied the game.
In the top of the third inning, Kim Jae-ho led off with a solo shot to left, and Rojas walked and Yang Yang-ji singled to put runners on first and third.
Yang’s grounder to left-center was recorded as a hit, but it was an errant play that Kiwoom shortstop Kim Hwi-jip couldn’t turn into a run. 안전카지노사이트
