The runner who didn’t take a chance on a bold play
The mood changed in an instant.
Who would have thought that Park Hae-min, who is so good at playing the infield, would make such a mistake. The jubilation quickly turned to despair, and the mood carried over into the game.
The LG Twins suffered a heartbreaking upset loss to the Kiwoom Heroes. LG took a 2-1 lead against Kiwoom at the Gocheok Sky Dome on the 2nd, but gave up three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to lose 2-4.
The team was able to score another run in the top of the eighth inning, but Park Hae-min’s ridiculous run-scoring play dampened the mood, and the mound gave way to the Kiwoom bats in the bottom of the eighth.
The top of the eighth inning was a disappointment.
LG took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth inning with a solo home run by Park Hae-min. Park, who hasn’t been hitting well lately, hit a solo shot off Kiwoom starter Ariel Hurado, who was pitching well, to give LG the momentum.
LG starter Kelly was also sent home with the win after six innings of one-run ball.
In the top of the eighth inning, Park Hae-min, who had hit a home run, got lucky when he reached first base on an error by the second baseman. Hong Chang-ki stepped up to the plate and stole second perfectly. Hong then hit a grounder in front of the second baseman, allowing Park to advance to third base, giving the team a chance to put runners on first and third.
Shin Min-jae lays down a squeeze bunt on the first pitch. Hae-min Park saw the bunt and rushed home, but the ball was fast and rolled right in front of pitcher Seung-woo Joo. The ball hit Seung-woo’s glove and bounced, and Park ran home again, but Seung-woo quickly caught the ball and threw home to tag him out. The play could have been safe if Park Hae-min had run without stopping. The catcher, Kim Jae-hyun, thought Park Hae-min was running and pointed to first base for Joo Seung-woo, thinking he was late. However, Joo Seung-woo saw that Park Hae-min 토토사이트 hadn’t come yet, so he threw home and tagged him out, saving a valuable run.
Both Shin Min-jae, who bunted, and Yeom Kyung-yup, who watched from the dugout, looked confused by Park’s stop.
The timing of Joo Seung-woo’s catch was such that Park could have been thrown out, but even so, it’s questionable whether Park should have stopped because he had to tag out. It’s possible that Park was trying to get Shin Min-jae to second base because he was threatened with an out. It was the top of the eighth inning and a squeeze bunt would have been the game-winning run, so LG’s decision to stop in the middle of the inning was a bit of a disappointment.
Then, Kim Hyun-soo’s line drive was caught by a jumping catch by the second baseman, ending the top of the eighth inning.
LG led 2-1, but Kiwoom was in a better mood. Kim Hye-sung hit a two-run double off the shortstop’s glove that bounced sideways off the bat of Jung Woo-young, and after Song Sung-moon tied the game with a single to right, Choi Joo-hwan followed with a two-run double to center to make it 3-2. LG lost 2-4 in the top of the ninth when pinch-hitter Ham Chang-gun was stranded on second base with runners on first and second.
Park Hae-min nearly gave his team the win with an unexpected home run, but instead, he made a mistake at the plate that is his forte and gave the game away.
