Johnson could change teams.
Brian Lewis of the New York Post reported on the Brooklyn Nets’ Cam Johnson on Thursday (July 24).
The Nets made a big trade this summer to shake things up. The Nets traded their ace, Mikal Bridges, for four unprotected first-round picks, one protected pick, one pick-swap right, and a second-round pick.
The Bridges trade signaled a rebuild. Already, general manager Sean Max has said he talked about it in hiring head coach Jordy Fernandez and re-signed starting center Nicolas Claxton, 메이저사이트 signaling that he’s looking to build for the long term rather than the immediate future.
What will be interesting to see is whether the remaining Brooklyn players will be traded. Rumors continue to surface about Cam Johnson and Dorian Finney-Smith, especially on the forward line.
Johnson, who joined Brooklyn in the Kevin Durant trade alongside Bridges, is a young 3-and-D resource who was born in 1996. Last season, he averaged 13.4 points and shot 39.1 percent from three-point range.
He’s missed a fair amount of time in the last two seasons due to injuries, but he’s certainly worthy of interest for teams looking to upgrade. Along with Sacramento, Orlando, and the Lakers, Lewis reported that San Antonio, Toronto, and Golden State could also be in the mix for Johnson.
“The Sacramento Kings, Orlando Magic, and Los Angeles Lakers have shown interest in Cam Johnson, but a recent report suggests that the San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors, and Golden State Warriors could emerge as dark horses,” Lewis said.
In the age of 3&D, Johnson’s trade value could be quite high depending on Brooklyn’s stance. If Brooklyn is willing to trade him, it’s likely they’ll be looking for future draft picks or prospects in return.
Johnson signed a four-year, $100 million-plus contract with Brooklyn last summer. With one season under his belt, it will be interesting to see which team he will be wearing next season.
