James Maddison, a midfielder for Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League (EPL), has praised “Captain” Son Heung-min.
“He’s one of the best strikers I’ve ever seen,” Maddison said in an interview with Amazon Prime Video Sports on Friday.
Maddison, who joined Spurs ahead of the season after playing for relegated Leicester City in the Championship (second tier), has enjoyed working well with Son up front.
With Harry Kane’s departure to Bayern Munich (Germany), he and Son have shared attacking duties and helped Spurs rise to the top of the table early in the season.
Maddison, in particular, emerged as Spurs’ new favorite with three goals and five assists without much of an adjustment period.
But after Maddison went down with an injury in a 1-4 loss to Chelsea last month, Spurs began to falter. They have not won in their last four games, drawing one and losing three.
Part of this is due to the loss of a number of key players, including Michy Batshuayi, 온라인카지노 Micky Van der Vaart, and Rodrigo Bentancur, but the departure of Maddison, who partnered with Son Heung-min up front, has been crucial.
In fact, he and Son have combined for 11 goals in 11 games this season.
As he recovers from his injury, Maddison is not expected to return until next year.
“I need more time, but the injury is healing well,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Tottenham, who escaped a three-game losing streak by drawing 3-3 with Manchester City in the previous round, will host West Ham in round 15 on Aug. 8.
