OK Financial Group waives MVP Leo to re-sign…draft is coming

Leonardo Leyva Martinez (34-registered as Leo), who was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2023-2024 men’s professional volleyball season, is entering the draft market.

The Korean Volleyball Organization (KOVO) announced on Tuesday, the deadline for the men’s foreign player tryout, that “out of seven teams, only KB Insurance applied to re-sign existing foreign player 스포츠토토사이트 Andres Villena (registered name Villena).”

Biyena will continue to play for KB with a salary of $550,000 for the new season.

It’s an unexpected move. Leo was the ace of OK Financial Group last season, ranking second in scoring (955 points), second in attack percentage (54.54%), second in serves (0.489 per set), and first in open success rate (50.36%).

With Leo leading the way, OK Financial Group finished the regular season in third place and reached the championship match for the first time in eight years.

Leo was recognized for his performance and was awarded the MVP trophy for the first time since 2015.

However, OK Financial Group decided that it was better to bring in a new foreign player to improve the team’s constitution.

Yosvani Hernandez (real name Yosvani), who played for Samsung Fire last season, was also not re-signed.

Leo and Yosvani will try to find a new team through the draft, which begins at 8 p.m. ET on Nov. 11.

The order of the picks will be determined by lottery, with the odds of being selected based on last season’s final results.

The seven men’s teams have been in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), since September 9, participating in open foreign player tryouts for next season.
