Tottenham are moving ahead with their search for a center back ahead of the January winter transfer window.
The agent of Radu Dragucin, 21, who plays in Italy’s Serie A, has confirmed talks with Spurs. Florin Manea, the player’s agent, said: “We have had discussions with Tottenham regarding Dragucin. They are interested and we will see what happens in the next transfer window.”
The Romanian center back was discovered by Juventus. He made the move outright this season after a loan spell at Genoa. He was a key contributor to Genoa’s promotion to Serie B’s top flight last season.
Man United and Arsenal are also interested in Dragucin. Tottenham are in talks to hijack Dragucin, who is said to be Man Utd’s top target, according to The Sun, a British newspaper.
Tottenham sent a scout to the Serie A match between Genoa and Juventus on the 16th. Dragucin played the full game, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
His transfer fee is reportedly £26 million. He has also been linked to Tottenham. Former manager Fabio Paratici recruited Dragucin when he was at Juventus.
Although he stepped down as Spurs manager earlier this year following a suspension, Paratici is still involved with the club on a consultancy basis. He has also made appearances for Spurs this season.
Spurs are in desperate need of center back reinforcements. Mickey van der Penn is out with a hamstring injury. Cristiano Romero is always a ‘red card worry’.
Eric Dier is out of contract at the end of the season and it’s only a matter of time. Tottenham are also in talks to sign Jean-Claude Todivo, 23, of Nice, France.
