The finalists to lead the South Korean men’s national basketball team have been announced.
“The Korea Basketball Association (KBA) has decided to recommend Coach Ahn Jun-ho and Coach Seo Dong-cheol to the Board of Directors after receiving the highest evaluation scores during the interview process of the adult men’s national basketball team coaches at the 5th Performance Improvement Committee for 2023,” the KBA 텍사스홀덤 said in a press release today.
The association continued, “Coach Kang Eul-joon, Coach Hwang Sung-in and Coach Lee Sang-yoon were also interviewed. We have been conducting the search for the last 12 days in a manager-coach pairing. We conducted the longest interviews and evaluations in the history of the program to transparently, fairly and thoroughly examine each candidate’s abilities.”
The final selection of the men’s national basketball team leader will be made by the Board of Directors on March 23.
Chu Il-seung and Lee Hoon-jae, who led the team to the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, are out of contract. The team failed to reach the quarterfinals.
Ahn Jun-ho previously coached the Seoul Samsung Thunder from 2004 to 2011. Seo Dong-cheol led the KT Sonic Boom from 2018 to 2023 as a head coach.
